Operation J

Operation J: Undercover Operations in the Name of JAST

Psychedelic funk rock grooves and wild jams for the twenty-first century

Operation J-- Creative freak-rock music from Portland, Oregon.

Upcoming Live Performance

March 28, 2009 in Downtown Portland

Operation J's first live public performance in more than three years will be an instrumental-only set of electric jams kicking off an all-night party which is being put on by some people who really know how to throw a party, let me tell you. We performed at a party they threw in Scappoose the summer of '95 and it was a mind-expanding experience. So we anticipate that this will be a lot of fun. Most of the other acts will be DJ-oriented, as I understand it; so we will turn on our freakadelics and groove. Special guest Jon Rigby of Flumergex joins us on his hand drum to fully round out our funky sound. Come see Steve Hovey on stage! This will be an event to remember. Location to be announced. I still don't have the details but will post them when they become available to me.

Undercover Operations in the Name of JAST

Operation J's full-length album of original songs is available online from Basementia Records.

If you haven't heard us play.... there's no single word that accurately categorizes our music, except possibly the word "eclectic." Our music is funky; but not all songs are funk songs. Our music rocks out; but we play some chill mellow groove songs, too. There are some jazz influences in there, and some world music influences, too, along with perhaps a little taste of classic hard rock spices.
